Open the calculatorFlorida Rock Supply handles gravel and aggregate delivery in Daytona Beach, FL, and the ground here is deep quartz sand that drains fast on the ridges and sits wet on the flats. That shapes what you order. Limerock base, limestone screenings and washed stone all have a job on a Volusia County lot, and the right pick depends on what you are building.
Whether you are topping a drive, bedding a walkway or armoring a pond bank, the material list below is stocked and ready to load.
Paths and walkways are where fines and screenings do the real work in Daytona Beach. A walkway that holds up underfoot starts with the right gradation, not whatever stone is closest to hand.
Stone screenings, also called limestone screenings or limerock screenings, are crushed limestone fines. Spread and compacted, they knit into a firm surface that stays walkable and sheds a light rain. Use them for paver and flagstone bedding and for a path surface you can push a wheelbarrow across. Stone Screenings are the first thing to price when you are laying a walk.
Limerock base is the standard Florida base rock, crushed limestone graded down to fines that compacts hard over sand. It belongs under driveways, parking pads, shed and slab pads and private roads. One graded layer here saves you from a rutted drive after a summer storm. Order it at Limerock Base.
For the walking surface itself, Walkway Gravel gives you a finer, walkable finish over that compacted base. Natural Pea Gravel covers lighter work: paths, borders and drainage around downspouts. It sits loose and moves underfoot, so keep it away from steep slopes. See 3/8" Natural Pea Gravel.
Drainage and edging round out most orders. #57 Limestone goes in French drains, around foundations and pools, and as driveway topping. For a path edge that locks in place, RipRap is too coarse, so use #57 or smaller clean stone instead.
A thin base over Florida sand fails in a familiar way. The sand pumps, the surface ruts, and the first tropical downpour leaves you with a low spot that holds water.
On the inland ridges, quartz sand is loose and fast-draining, so a light base can shear sideways under a truck tire. On the flatwoods, sand sits wet for part of the year over a hardpan, and flat lots drain slowly after summer storms. Both problems point to the same fix: excavate to a firm layer, then build your base in compacted lifts rather than one thick dump.
Aim for a solid compacted limerock base under a driveway or paver walk. Below that, add a drainage layer of #57 stone or drain rock so water has somewhere to go. Work runs year round, but the rainy season from late spring into October saturates pads and slows grading, and hurricane season runs June through November. If you are working a bare sandy slope, plan the drainage before the storms arrive.
Order online and pick your quantity by the ton or by the cubic yard. Bulk material is usually sold by weight, so use tons when you know the material, and cubic yards when you are working from volume.
To estimate, multiply length by width by depth in feet, divide by 27 for cubic yards, then convert to tons using the material's weight per yard. Limerock and screenings run heavy, so a shallow layer covers more ground than most people expect. The site calculator does this math for you.
We deliver across Daytona Beach and the rest of Volusia County, including Deltona, Port Orange, Ormond Beach, DeLand and New Smyrna Beach. Have the truck route clear, the pad marked, and a spot that a loaded truck can reach and turn around in.
Clear the driveway and mark where you want the pile, then confirm the driver can reach that spot without backing over soft sand. If your lot is on flatwoods ground that stays wet, lay down plywood or pick a firmer landing zone. Keep gates open and pets and vehicles out of the way so the load can be dumped and spread without delay.
Limerock base is the standard choice. Compact it in lifts to a solid layer over firm ground, then bed the pavers in limestone screenings, which are crushed limestone fines. The screenings give you a level, workable bed and lock the joints. On wet flatwoods lots, add a drainage layer below the base first.
Start with the calculator to work out how many tons or yards your walkway, drive or pad needs. Then pick your material and place the order. Florida Rock Supply delivers bulk gravel, stone and soil across Daytona Beach and Volusia County, and we are ready to load your first truck.
