Bulk Material Delivery in Destin, FL

Before you order gravel and aggregate delivery in Destin, FL, work out the tonnage. Measure the area, set your depth, and let the numbers pick the truck. Florida Rock Supply sells limerock base, drainage stone, sand and topsoil by the ton. Order online and we run it to your site.

Destin sits on deep, loose quartz sand. That sand drains fast on high ground but shifts under load, so most jobs here start with a compacted base before anything else goes down.

Materials for Destin Projects

Start with coarse stone, because erosion is a steady problem along Destin's beaches and bays. Storm surge and tropical rain pull at dune faces, bayfront banks, swale walls and ditch banks. Big, angular stone locks together and stays put where finer material washes out. Work down from there and you get to the base and bedding sizes.

For the finer end, Drain Rock handles downspout runs and drainage around patios and foundations. Stone Screenings give you paver bedding and a firm walkable path. Below all of it, Limerock Base is the standard Florida base rock, crushed limestone graded down to fines. It compacts hard over sand and carries driveways, parking pads and private roads.

Ground and Conditions in Destin

Work runs year round here, and timing matters more than most people expect. Winter cold fronts and summer thunderstorms both drop heavy rain, and hurricane season from June through November brings the biggest washout and surge risk. Bare sand slopes and ditch banks move fast after a downpour. If you are grading a bank, get the stone on it before the next front.

Rain soaks quickly into sand on higher lots, so a compacted limerock base holds well there. Low flatwoods and bayfront lots sit close to the water table and hold water instead. On those lots, plan a drainage layer before the base goes down. The ground back from the bays carries clayey layers in spots, which changes how it compacts.

Have the truck approach clear and the drop spot marked. Bulk delivery to a site in Destin means a dump truck needs room to back in and spread. Tell us about soft ground, low branches or a tight gate ahead of time, and we will plan the run.

Questions About Destin Material Orders

What stone should I use for drainage in Destin?

Start with #57 stone or Drain Rock for French drains, downspouts and drainage around foundations and pools. Use #4 Crushed Stone for trench bottoms and heavy flow. RipRap and Large River Rock armor banks, shorelines and outfalls where wave action and storm runoff do the damage. Wash the fines level and keep the stone angular so it locks together.

What should I have ready when the truck arrives?

A clear path and a marked drop spot. Move vehicles, check for low wires and branches, and tell us before dispatch about soft ground or a narrow gate. Bulk loads are heavy and the driver needs to back in and spread. If the ground is loose sand, a plywood pad under the rear wheels helps the truck pull out.
